What’s happened in 2017?

  • The year 2017 marked the 20th year Anniversary of Debbie working at Newlands! Debbie has done a huge amount of work in all departments of the centre and climbing wall but particularly in the administration of the business and without her the centre would not be as highly recognised and awarded as it is today. We thank Debbie for all the hard work she has put into the company from helping achieve Cumbria Tourism Sustainable Business Award 2017 - Highly Commended for Newlands and the Climbing Wall to making the Centre and Climbing Wall a nationally recognised Gold standard environmentally green centre. Debbie also took on the task of becoming Keswick Climbing Wall Manager on top of this in 2014.
  • This season the centre had a huge revamp in the interior of the building as well as the vehicles. The kitchen has had a complete refit added as well as a new floor laid out to improve the already high standard which Newlands is renowned for. We have had a new carpet fitted across the whole of the interior building and the lounge area has been revamped as well. We have also purchased six new eight seater vans for centre and climbing wall to use during the school season and busy summer period!
  • We have made some huge changes at Keswick Climbing Wall this year, The Hungry Heifer CafĂ© has been revamped and made larger in all aspect from size to menu. As well as this Rookery Woods has had new elements added to it from a huge slide to miniature wooden train track! We also have added to new activates based at the Climbing Wall, firstly we have added Field Archery. After instruction on traditional archery targets, you can go “hunting” in our woodland with your Instructor and track our range of specially made foam creatures. Also we have made our forward facing abseil of our zip wire tower! Can you abseil of the tower Aussie style?
