Ghyll Scrambling at Newlands
Ghyll Scrambling is hard to define but is invariably is the favourite activity of visitors to Newlands. A wet decent of a Lakeland mountain stream, Ghyll Scrambling starts with a twenty minute walk from our front door to the top of the ghyll.
You will be equipped with several layers of clothing, waterproofs and a helmet, before being introduced to the safe method of scrambling, jumping and sliding required to safely make your descent, under the watchful eye of your Instructor. Then it is into the water and down the ghyll, scrambling through pools, down waterslides and even jumping off waterfalls. With Newlands so close, the session can be timed to suit the prevailing weather, so it is only a short walk back to the drying room and a hot shower.
Please note: Participants must be 8 years and over.
